Canadian truckers’ convoy reignites far-right drive around the world

The truckers convoy in Ottawa began because of a vaccine-mandate disagreement, but it has morphed into a uniting moment for far-right individuals, anti-government and anti-lockdown supporters, and conspiracists around the world. ISD’s Ciarán O’Connor spoke with POLITICO about how the support and attention from U.S. political figures and content creators gave the protest the push it needed to reach a global audience. This added attention has also increased monetary support as donations rush in to fund the convoy.

Ciarán’s commentary on the convoy and the related online activity can also be found on WIRED, the Huffington Post, the Globe and Mail, Yahoo, Reuters, the Calgary Sun, the Guardian, NPR, and French-language La Presse.
