ISD finds an increase in Islamic State accounts under Elon Musk’s Twitter reign

The Washington Post drew on ISD’s Executive Director for AMEA, Moustafa Ayad’s, research to analyse the evolution of online extremism under Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover. Journalist Cristiano Lima points to stats found by ISD on the rise of Islamic State (IS) accounts in the first 12 days of Musk’s takeover. ISD tracked 450 new IS accounts, a 69 percent increase than the previous 12.
