ISD research cited in coverage of 764 sextortion ring and subsequent arrests

After the FBI announced the arrests of two men accused of leading the sextortion ring known as 764, multiple outlets cited ISD’s research in their coverage.

The men, known online as “Trippy” and “War, were arrested last week and face a litany of charges. In its press release, the Department of Justice accused them of “operating an international child exploitation enterprise” under the banner of 764—a network linked to a growing list of disturbing crimes and various extremist ideologies and groups.

Outlets including USA Today, The Times of India, The Observer and The Daily Caller referenced ISD’s recent Explainer detailing the inner workings of 764.
