Bomb threat in Uruguay linked to extremist group 764

ISD’s Explainer on the extremist group 746 was referenced in an article by Latin America Reports. The article covers a series of bomb threats sent to the University of the Republic (UDELAR), as well as the Montevideo Shopping Center, in late March. UDELAR received an email from an individual claiming to belong to 764, which ISD describes as a “network of online groups that engage in sextortion and the glorification of violence.” 

764 is known to target minors to produce Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), which is then used as leverage to coerce victims into acts of violence, animal abuse or self-harm.
