ISD Canada

Canada has long played a leading role in advancing evidence-based approaches to countering violent extremism, foreign interference and information operations.
Launched in late 2025, ISD Canada deepens this legacy by delivering rigorous research, policy-relevant analysis and practitioner-ready programming tailored to the Canadian context, at a time when digital and real-world threats are often interconnected and transnational.
ISD Canada’s work builds upon a decade of partnerships with Canadian governments of all levels and conducts advanced research and threat detection focused on domestic violent extremism, foreign terrorist organizations, foreign influence operations and online manipulation. The team also tracks the drivers of polarization, hate and targeted harassment across Canada, providing actionable insights to policymakers, practitioners and law enforcement.
A core pillar of ISD Canada’s work is supporting municipalities and local communities through ISD’s Strong Cities Network, which connects cities across Canada to a global coalition of political leaders working to prevent violence and strengthen social cohesion.
Through close partnerships with federal departments, such as Public Safety Canada, local and provincial governments, universities and non-governmental organizations, ISD Canada advances collaborative, data-driven solutions to safeguard Canada’s democratic institutions and the country’s citizens.
