The true nature of Canada’s largest white nationalist group
Canada’s largest white nationalist group boasts a large online presence—but it contrasts with the group’s real-world objectives.
Second Sons Canada’s sanitized online posts mask its pro-Nazi, violent rhetoric: a calculated move according to ISD’s Steven Rai in an interview with CBC News.
“This is a very deliberate strategy on their part to draw a broader range of supporters into the movement,” Steven explained.
The group’s coded language is evidenced in its use of the term “remigration.”
“Remigration for Second Sons is a euphemism for ethnic cleansing,” Steven said. “The remigration language is interesting because it’s meant to make ethnic cleansing, which is a concept that shocks people and horrifies them … sound almost benign.”
Second Sons has also welcomed individuals that self-identify as Nazis, signaling the group is “willing to accept some of the most noxious members of society,” according to Steven.
