Jacob Davey is the Director of Policy & Research for Counter-Hate at ISD UK. Over the last decade Jacob has led a portfolio of projects focusing on countering online hate speech, hate crime, international far right, and political violence. He has developed novel models for counter-hate interventions and has led numerous initiatives tracking and countering far-right extremism and hate speech online, including analysis for government in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. He regularly advises policymakers on hate speech and extremism and has provided expert testimony in the UK to the Home Affairs Select Committee, the Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament, and the Science, Innovation and Technology Select Committee. Jacob has managed and co-authored numerous ISD reports including Between Conspiracy and Extremism: A Long COVID Threat?, ISD’s Gaming and Extremism Series, and A Safe Space to Hate: White Supremacist Mobilisation on Telegram. Jacob is a founding board member of the Extremism and Gaming Research Network and regularly provides expert commentary in the media (BBC, Channel 4 News, The New York Times, The Guardian and others).
