How misogynistic hate benefits from algorithms and propels through social media

BBC specialist disinformation reporter Marianna Spring’s stories tend to focus on various theories and “fake news,” continually putting her in the crosshairs of conspiracy theorists across all social media platforms who attack her with misogynistic comments. In order to better examine this pattern, Spring enlisted ISD’s Chloe Colliver to help her investigate how these online trolls can freely, and so consistently, go after her and so many other women, and why social media companies are seemingly doing nothing to stop it. Colliver assisted Spring in setting up an online persona to test the algorithms. She comments throughout the documentary on the findings.
