UFC terror plotters’ motivations raise questions about threat prioritization
Eight men were indicted on charges related to the plot targeting the Ultimate Fighting Championship event at the White House last month.
The plot was rooted in anti-elite, anti-government, antisemitic and anti-Israel sentiments, but court documents have revealed that the defendants hold a wide array of grievances.

“Seeing such a decentralized group that crosses ideological boundaries, I do think it drives that there is a need to be thinking about the grievance-based side of things, like data centers and AI in general,” Matthew said. “We need to be thinking more about grievance-based motivators to violence, and less about ideology.”
