True Crime Communities glorify violent criminals, inspire attacks

Cody Zoschak

The True Crime Community (TCC) has inspired acts of violence worldwide, including a shooting at a Catholic school in Minneapolis last August.

German outlets Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ) and Berliner Morgenpost recently covered these online communities where young people discuss and glorify real-life perpetrators, interviewing ISD Senior Manager Cody Zoschak to provide more insight.

“There is no political leader, no party, behind it. You don’t have to be a member of a political movement.”

ISD’s investigation into the True Crime Community was also highlighted, including analysts’ identification of attacks linked to TCC. In the interview, Cody spoke to how TCC members engage in an extreme level of worshipping violent criminals.

“In some cases, followers of assassins also produce fictional and pornographic representations of their supposed ‘heroes’. It’s a kind of cult-like worship.”
