Terrorism and Extremism

This briefing paper details analysis of Canadian domestic extremists’ online activity between November 2024 and February 2025. It is part of a multi-year study which will provide ongoing insight into Canadian domestic extremist activity through the ongoing delivery of analytical briefs.
This edition draws on over 400,000 posts from 545 extremist accounts across eight platforms, including X, Telegram, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. The report offers a detailed breakdown of account types, examines popular media sources, maps geographic patterns, analyzes levels of violent rhetoric, and highlights the narratives driving engagement over the time frame.

This report was delivered with funding support from the Public Safety Canada Community Resilience Fund. The views expressed here do not necessarily represent those of the Government of Canada.

Analysis from January to August 2024 is  available here and analysis from September to November 2024 is available here.
