All-age drag shows, the latest target in the US’s culture war

All-ages drag shows have become the latest controversy up for public debate in countries like the UK and the US. ISD Senior Manager Jared Holt comments in USA Today about the targeting of drag performers by far-right activists that claim the show’s are an attempt of allegedly indoctrinating children. Drag performers and many more in the LGBTQ community, however, assure that it is merely a freedom of expression, and is instead meant to be enjoyed and celebrated by everyone.

Jared points out that scrutiny for all-age drag events tightened around mid-2021. “There’s a whole slice of right-wing media that has essentially devoted itself to throwing fits over all-ages drag brunches,” he said.
