Forbes’ recent article about mis and disinformation spreading online following the rebel capture of Damascus highlights ISD’s 2022 digital investigation into disinformation in Syria. ISD’s research determined that a small group of dedicated actors were responsible for the spread of a large amount of online disinformation around Syria.  

Furthermore, ISD’s original investigation found that Russia played a significant role in spreading disinformation during previous conflicts in the region, a trend now being mirrored in recent events.
