‘Cross-pollination’, far-right figures in Ireland and the UK influence each other on anti-immigrant activity

In recent months, Ireland has witnessed an increase in anti-immigrant rhetoric, activity, and in some instances, violence. ISD Senior Analyst Ciarán O’Connor spoke to the Times about the recent “cross-pollination” between far-right figures in Ireland and the UK regarding anti-immigrant activity.

Ciarán explained how Ireland’s anti-immigrant movement “has learnt” from figures such as the English Defence League founder, Tommy Robinson. He refers to this phenomenon as a “cross-pollination” in which far-right figures on both sides of the Irish Sea influence each other and share similar narratives.

The article is available on the Times‘s website.
