Webinar: ISD’s Hannah Rose on understanding online subcultures of nihilistic violence

Online communities that promote nihilistic violence are a growing threat across digital platforms. These decentralized networks are associated with a range of harms, including sexual exploitation, cybercrime and real-world violence, and frequently target children. Their lack of a central ideology or organizational structure challenges traditional approaches to moderation, prevention and policy.

Hannah Rose, ISD Senior Research and Policy Manager, will join INHOPE’s Expert Insights webinar series on 27 May for a session on “Understanding Online Subcultures of Nihilistic Violence”, unpacking how these communities form, how they operate and how practitioners can improve their response to this evolving threat.

INHOPE is a global network combatting online Child Sexual Abuse Material in partnership with the European Union.

The Expert Insights webinar series 2026 is funded by the European Commission as part of the Better Internet for Kids Programme under the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL).
