A growing number of British teenagers have planned or threatened attacks against their current or former schools.

ISD Senior Manager Cody Zoschak spoke to The i Paper about this concerning phenomenon and why UK security systems are ill-equipped to address it. He explained that these systems are designed to capture ideological movements that are distinct from today’s landscape of nihilistic violence.

“There is no group goal, there is nothing that they’re working together towards as a community,” Cody said. “They are individuals looking to achieve notoriety or group acceptance.”

Cody highlighted that his research shows the threat from children wanting to carry out school attacks is “accelerating” worldwide.
