Russia’s information operations target Armenia amid elections

Russia launched aggressive information operations targeting Armenia amid their recent elections.

ISD’s Joseph Bodnar recently spoke to AFP about the high volume of operations focusing on Armenia and how they reveal Russia’s high capabilities. This piece was then picked up by several outlets, including Taipei Times and TV5Monde.

AFP also highlighted ISD research into Russian information operation Storm 15-16, which ISD found targeted Armenia more than any other country between April 2025 and April 2026.

The New York Times also cited ISD’s research, including the finding that a Moscow-based organization placed under punitive action by the European Union for spreading propaganda published at least a dozen articles attacking the Armenian prime minister and those close to him. The outlet interviewed Joseph on the intensity of Russia’s operations.

“It seems to be they’re pulling in all their assets and pointing them toward Armenia.”

The full articles are available on Taipei Times, TV5Monde and The New York Times.
