Iranian regime’s long arm promotes fear in UK diaspora communities

Iranians activists living in London are fearing for their lives, as they face death threats, intimation and surveillance.

ISD Senior Analyst Rashad Ali spoke to The Standard about the growing concerns of members of the Iranian diaspora.

“There is a real threat facing them and their families,” Rashad said. “There have been Iranians intimidated by the regime in London. Threatened and coerced into silence or support, with threats to their families in Iran.”

Noting the far-reaching capabilities of the Iranian regime and history of foiled plots in the UK, Rashad emphasizes the severity and realness of this threat to the outlet.

Rashad also discussed the relationship between the regime and recent antisemitic attacks in the UK.

“The Iranian regime is suspected to be behind many of the attacks on synagogues and even services like ambulances provided by the Jewish community. This is obviously targeted and aimed at creating a climate of fear for Jews. It is something that absolutely should concern everyone.”
