New viral meme draws from Nazi conspiracy theories

Cody Zoschak

The idea of a lost Aryan civilization called Agartha—a conspiracy theory purported by SS Chief Heinrich Himmler—has recently resurged as an internet meme.

The connection between the Agartha meme and other racist and antisemitic content is described by ISD’s Cody Zoschak in an interview with The Atlantic.

“What comes with Agartha is its provenance within a racist, anti-Semitic community.”

Even though some of the Agartha-meme posters are not explicitly members of the far right, Cody says he “can trace a line back to what is almost certainly a neo-Nazi community.”
