Isabelle Frances-Wright and Ellen Jacobs join podcast to discuss platform preparedness for the upcoming US election

ISD’s Director of Technology and Society, Isabelle Frances-Wright, and Senior Digital Policy Manager, Ellen Jacobs, joined the Tech Policy Press podcast for an in-depth discussion about their recent ISD report assessing platform preparedness for the upcoming US election.

In conversation with Tech Policy Press CEO and Editor, Justin Hendrix, Ellen and Isabelle shared insights into the development of their comprehensive report and the key findings from their research. They explored platform changes since the 2020 election, the rise of AI-generated content, and the widespread lack of transparency, which continues to hinder journalists and researchers.

“Just across the board, there is not enough transparency, there is not enough data access for researchers like those at ISD or other organizations who want to be able to look into the black box of what’s happening at the platforms to identify what decisions are being made that lead to some of the harms we’re seeing emanate from the platforms,” Ellen explained.
