Business Insider Africa covers ISD research on Morocco’s religious diplomacy

The 2003 Casablanca terrorist attacks marked a turning point for Morocco, triggering wide-ranging religious and state reforms that gave rise to a new national religious infrastructure known as “Moroccan Islam.”

Describing ISD as one of the “leading think tanks on extremism, social cohesion and geopolitical influence, working with governments and multilateral institutions across Europe and beyond,” Business Insider Africa recent article covered ISD’s publication on Morocco’s regional engagement.

“Morocco does not present its model as a rigid template but as an African-rooted approach to Islam that values spiritual depth, civic responsibility and resistance to violent ideologies,” Africa Business Insider reads. “The ISD notes that what is ‘exported’ is less a doctrine than a method: an ability to reconcile tradition with the requirements of modern governance.”

Business Insider Africa also credits ISD’s findings as a reminder that consequential power can travel quietly through classrooms and shared rituals to build widespread trust.
