ISD warns AfD’s Lena Kotré’s speech at white supremacist conference could legitimise extremist group

An ISD spokesperson spoke to the Scottish media cooperative The Ferret about AfD politician Lena Kotré’s association with Homeland Party, a UK far-right political party connected to white supremacy. Kotré is scheduled to speak at the group’s conference in April.

The ISD spokesperson warned that Kotré’s presence risks legitimising a small extremist group by associating it with a major German political party, while also highlighting the transnational nature of far-right networks.

“It’s concerning to see someone from the AfD, which at this point is a major party in Germany, come to a gathering of what is effectively a very small group of white supremacists and give validation or credibility to them.”
