US extremists seeking “to further divide or create violence” in support of Hamas

Since 7 October, ISD has conducted several investigations on the implications of the Israel-Hamas conflict on the threat landscape. Our Dispatches have mapped out the spread of illegal terrorist content on social media, revealed how graphic and violent materials are served to minors, and evidenced the surge of anti-Muslim and antisemitic content online, among other topics.

ABC News featured some of this research along with commentary from ISD’s Executive Director for Africa, the Middle East and Africa (AMEA) Moustafa Ayad. The article references our recent investigation on neo-Nazi accelerationists‘ support for the terrorist group as they attempt to recruit and radicalise for their own cause.

“It’s not a small amount of messaging in the neo-Nazi communities around some of these events that are happening in the US. […] We’re talking about a lot of sort of messages that seek to further divide or create violence at these marches, at these protests,” Moustafa said.

In addition, the article references ISD’s investigations on the surge of antisemitic and anti-Muslim language across social media platforms.
