ISD Event
ISD CEO Sasha Havlicek at University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics on AI safety
ISD CEO Sasha Havlicek joined the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics for a discussion titled “Safety, Slop, and the AI Sandbox: Are We Doomed?” on March 30.
Sasha spoke alongside Will Rinehart of the American Enterprise Institute and the director of the University of Chicago Existential Risk Laboratory, Professor Daniel Holz. The conversation was moderated by Naomi Nix, the Washington Post’s tech and social media reporter, and focused on questions of how to balance AI safety, innovation and existential risk.
Sasha drew from ISD’s research to answer questions about how foreign adversaries are leveraging generative AI to undermine US national security and public safety. She discussed how AI tools have boosted CCP, Kremlin and Iranian capabilities in the information and cyber operations domains.
Sasha also talked about the psychological impact of chatbots portraying themselves as humans to minors, and the need for guardrails in relation to child safety.
