Joe Bodnar speaks with VOA about foreign disinformation on Bluesky

Joe Bodnar, Senior Research Manager at ISD, spoke to Voice of America about foreign disinformation on Bluesky. Joe explained that Russian propaganda can appeal to the anti-establishment left in the U.S. on contentious topics, like Gaza and gun violence.

“The Kremlin wants to make those arguments even louder,” Joe explained. “Sometimes that means they play to the left.”

Joe added that Russian propaganda may have a difficult time gaining a foothold on Bluesky as its left-leaning base is likely to push back.

“Bluesky isn’t the most hospitable place for Russian narratives,” he noted.
