ISD’s Olga Tokariuk speaks to Voice of America about Russian deepfake videos targeting Ukrainian refugees

Olga Tokariuk, a Senior Analyst at ISD, spoke with Voice of America about how Russian deepfake videos are targeting Ukrainian refugees. The AI-generated content aims to negatively impact general opinion of Ukraine in allied countries.

“It is not yet viral content, but it is no longer marginal content,” Olga explains, highlighting the growing reach of these manipulated videos. However, she cautions against overestimating their actual influence.

“It is always difficult … to prove with 100% correlation the impact of these disinformation campaigns on politics,” she added.
