ISD’s Jakob Guhl breaks down the AfD’s ascent on Sky News Daily

Jakob Guhl, senior manager of policy and research at ISD, joined Sky News Daily to discuss the rise of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) and why the party has resonated with German voters in recent years.

“As they have become more radical, they’ve become more popular,” explained Jakob on the podcast.

“They are attracting quite a bit of working class, and you see that reflected in some of the issues they’re emphasising,” he added. “Issues like the economy and reducing migration and they’re trying to contrast that with what they would describe as ‘luxury beliefs’ —support for Ukraine, support for immigrants, championing multiculturalism.”

You can listen to the full podcast on Sky News’ website.
