AFP Showcases ISD’s work on online disinformation targeting German elections

A recent Agence France-Presse article highlighted ISD’s recent investigation into a network of accounts on X spreading disinformation and AI-generated content. Posing as legitimate media outlets, the accounts posted and proliferated threats and disinformation regarding the upcoming German elections. These accounts were then boosted through the use of at least 6,000 bot accounts.

This disinformation campaign is consistent with Russian information manipulation strategies seen in recent European elections.
