Videos of the Buffalo mass shooting remain online

Days after the mass shooting in Buffalo on 14 May 2022, videos capturing the shooter livestreaming the attack are still available across various platforms, ISD’s Ciarán O’Connor told Bloomberg.

According to Ciarán, the most viewed videos were on Twitter, with one reaching almost 460,000 views. He also found the videos on Facebook and Instagram.
“The danger of the video remaining online for longer is that it allows people to download the content and put it on other sites,” Ciarán said.
Similar videos were circulated and made viral after the Christchurch attack in 2019 that killed 51 people.
