Facebook’s Oversight Panel has become a closely watched experiment in corporate governance for online platforms. ISD’s CEO Sasha Havlicek is quoted in an article by Parmy Olson for the Wall Street Journal about the longer-term effectiveness of the panel, stating:
“…The panel hasn’t shown it is going far enough. She said its individual content cases can distract the public from what would be a more useful focus for the board: scrutiny of Facebook’s business practices and the design of its product and algorithms.”
