Climate delayism narratives resurface to distract from COP27 efforts

The UN’s Climate Change Conference (COP27) kicked off in Egypt this week and delayism narratives did not take long to resurface for the occasion. ISD’s concluding report on COP26 and the state of climate change denial and delayism featured in POLITICO‘s article on culture war celebrities and politicians aiming to once again distract from the conference with accusations of hypocrisy and elitism of those attending.

ISD’s Head of Civic Action and Education, Jennie King, told POLITICO that the far right’s focus this year has been “turbo charged” by the energy crisis, ‘which populists have wrongly argued is the fault of green policy.’
