Anti-migrant vigilantes associated with Operation Raise the Colours banned from France

Anti-migrant vigilantes that harassed migrants on Calais beaches have been banned from France.

Ten of these individuals are linked to Operation Raise the Colours—a UK-based group associated with anti-migrant sentiment.

Raise the Colours has engaged in new recruitment tactics, including vetting potential members through a form.

ISD’s Sid Venkataramakrishnan spoke to iPaper about this new tactic among anti-migrant groups.

“Systematised recruiting techniques have appeared among anti-migrant groups as well as more extreme white nationalist communities; these range from such questionnaires to more explicit vetting,” Sid said. “The question is the scale of sign-ups [achieved] and whether this approach draws in more members.”
