CCOA webinar | Training grounds for hate? Active clubs, radicalisation and antisemitism in sport

Across several countries, so-called Active Clubs—white nationalist extremist groups that combine fitness training with ideology—are gaining traction. Presenting themselves as communities of strength and discipline, these clubs use sport as a gateway to radicalisation, spreading messages of hate and exclusion.

This online session hosted by the Coalition to Counter Online Antisemitism (CCOA) will explore their tactics in depth, examine the role of antisemitic beliefs in their worldview, and consider how they connect to broader right-wing extremist networks. We will compare developments across different national contexts and highlight a promising prevention initiative that brings research and practice together to counter this threat.

Session speakers:

  • Jessa Mellea (Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism)
  • Morgan Finnsiö (Expo)
  • Karim Pasquale Reuß (fairplay)
  • Jacob Wagner (ISD Global)
