Strong Cities Network Intern  

Launched at the United Nations in September 2015, the Strong Cities Network (SCN) is the first ever global network of mayors, municipal-level policy makers and practitioners united in building social cohesion and community resilience to counter violent extremism in all its forms.

Based in Beirut, the Project Intern will assist the Senior Regional Programme Manager and Project Coordinator on all Middle East and North Africa (MENA) project work as part of Strong Cities Network. The project is a municipal capacity building programme in Lebanon and Jordan to enhance the municipalities ability to improve social cohesion and conflict prevention. The project is supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The successful candidate may occasionally need to travel within Lebanon.

YouthCAN Remote Volunteer 

ISD welcomes prospective volunteers who would like to be part of a dynamic, international organisation committed to countering extremism through innovative projects. Candidates will work with the Youth Civil Activism Network (YouthCAN). YouthCAN is an international initiative to support youth activists and their efforts to prevent and counter hate speech and extremism online and within local communities. With members from more than 125 countries spanning across five continents, YouthCAN is a global network that actively engages and empowers young activists around the world.

The role offers a valuable opportunity for young activists looking to gain experience in helping to manage a global community of youth activists and creatives with a focus on both the research and practical sides of countering hate speech and extremism.

Special Assistant to the CEO 

ISD is seeking a bright, enthusiastic and organised individual to support the CEO and the organisation’s development as ISD continues to grow. The successful candidate will gain a unique insight into the highest levels of decision making within CVE, liaising with top policymakers, philanthropists and corporate entities operating in this space.

ISD is looking for a candidate with strong organisational skills and a keen interest in the space that ISD operates in, to build strong stakeholder relationships and ensure the smooth running of the CEO’s agenda. This role will also support ISD’s development opportunities, researching and approaching potential partners and donors to grow ISD’s programmes around the world.
