Anne Craanen is a Senior Research and Policy Manager, Extremism, specialising in gender and extremism, regulatory approaches to online terrorist and extremist content, and countering extremism and terrorism. Anne has presented her work to various stakeholders, including supranational institutions such as the European Internet Forum and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, as well as national governments, tech companies and civil society organisations. Anne is currently pursuing a part-time PhD at Swansea University, researching online misogyny and offline violence, with a focus on extremism and violence against women and girls. Previously, she worked as a Research Manager at Tech Against Terrorism, where she led the Terrorist Content Analytics Platform (TCAP), a tool designed to alert tech companies to terrorist content. Anne has also held positions at Artis International, Dataminr, and the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR).
