Unsubstantiated claims of unauthorized migrants participating in US elections stir right

In the lead-up to Iowa’s caucases, Donald Trump has once again implied that Democrats are encouraging migrants entering the country illegally in order to register them to vote in the 2024 presidential election. ISD Senior Research Analyst Jared Holt spoke to the Associated Press about these unsupported claims and how they are just another way of pushing the ‘Great Replacement‘ theory.

“It’s sort of a tongue-in-cheek way of pushing the Great Replacement theory, but in a way that has been understood to be less morally repugnant or perceivably more defensible (…) I don’t think you have to scratch very far below the surface to understand what is really being said,” he said.
