Social media’s role in spreading disinformation about the electoral process

Tech Policy Press featured ISD’s report assessing how social media platform policies moderate hate speech and violent rhetoric related to the election. The research found platforms played a significant role in disseminating false claims about the electoral system due to inconsistent and often non-transparent policies. 

Tech Policy Press used findings from the report to inform their own research about platform impact during the 2024 US election. They found that very few platforms have policies in place to address election misinformation.
