Jared Holt on the far-right: “When people tell you who they are, you should believe them”

In the 10 years since Republican Mitt Romney lost the race to the White House, the party has struggled in reframing itself as one of tolerance, diversity and sincerity.

ISD Senior Research Manager Jared Holt spoke with the Guardian about the open-ness in which the party has publicised some of their more extreme views: “[It’s] the type of things they would say in closed rooms full of donors they’re just saying out in the open now. It’s a cliché but I always remember what I heard growing up which is, when people tell you who they are, you should believe them.”
