Islamic extremists troll each other online and manage to stay under Facebook’s radar

Our Moustafa Ayad shared exclusively with POLITICO evidence exposing how several groups supporting the Islamic State and the Taliban managed to openly post extremist propaganda and hate speech for months on Facebook.

“It’s just too easy for me to find this stuff online,” said Ayad. “What happens in real life happens in the Facebook world.”

While Facebook continuously claims that they are investing in, and broadening, their approach to content moderation, ISD’s research has identified many gaps in the hate speech reporting process.
