ISD’s Mauritius Dorn speaks to BBC about the rising popularity of Germany’s far-right party
Mauritius Dorn, Director of Public Affairs at ISD Germany, spoke to the BBC about the growing popularity of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) among young men.
Mauritius explains that TikTok has played a major role in AfD’s rise in popularity. The official AfD account on the platform has 539,000 followers, but Mauritius explains that the party also benefits from a “considerable number of unofficial fan accounts also help to disseminate the party’s content.”
“Those users who are more on the right-wing spectrum… see a lot of AfD content whereas users from the leftist spectrum see a more diverse set of political content,” Mauritius adds.
