ISD’s Katherine Keneally speaks with News Lines about the implications of presidential pardons for January 6 defendants

Katherine Keneally, Director of Threat Analysis and Prevention for ISD US, spoke with News Lines Magazine about the potential impacts of a mass pardon for Jan 6 defendants. Katherine explained that such a pardon could legitimize the crimes committed on that day and “essentially send the message that what they did was OK, while validating the conspiracy theories that have spread or that led people to get involved that day.”  

She also highlighted the challenges a mass release of incarcerated individuals could create as the “prison system is already not great by any means when it comes to re-entry into society of those who have been released.”
