Head of US Disinformation Board draws on ISD research in book on online misogyny

Nina Jankowicz, the recently appointed executive director of the US Department of Homeland Security’s new Disinformation Governance Board, published a book in April where she discusses online abuse she’s received, and that women in general are prone to and ignore, she writes.

In this excerpt on Literary Hub, she draws on our report “Public Figures, Public Rage: Candidate abuse on social media“, and evidence we found in the lead-up to the 2020 US election that women running for office were more likely to not only be targeted by online abuse in general, but also with gender-based messages than their male counterparts.
