FBI search at Mar-A-Lago: Civil war calls may soon get too loud on social media

ISD’s Head of Research & Policy, Far-right and Hate Movements, Jacob Davey, features in Bloomberg speaking on the far-rights online reaction to the FBI’s search at Mar-A-Lago. According to Davey, the violent rhetoric calling for a civil war isn’t anything new. “Calls for civil war have become part of a steady drumbeat of extremist rhetoric,” he said. Similar to the chatter leading up to the Jan. 6 attack at the Capitol, these calls for mobilization aren’t being veiled. Platforms will soon have to decide up to when to permit it.
