A judge, an aristocrat & other high society members among suspects arrested over coup plot in Germany

ISD Senior Manager Jakob Guhl provided commentary to Reuters on last week’s Reichsbürger raid that led to the arrest of 25 suspects on alleged plans to overthrow the German government. Among those arrested were high society figures, including a Berlin judge and an aristocrat who was meant to supposedly head the new state.

No longer does the far-right milieu comprise primarily disaffected young male neo-Nazi skinheads, Jakob said. He explained how the far-right German milieu is broadly made up of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), QAnon fans, Reichsbuerger, Querdenker and other traditional groups, who believe similar conspiracy theories.

“The AfD has very much promoted the range of conspiracy theories that are going to be popular among adherents of QAnon, of the Reichsbuerger and Querdenker, the key anti-lockdown group (in Germany)”.

In total, 25 suspects were arrested, many of whom were over 50 years old. “Their high level of education and positions of responsibility make them potentially dangerous as their views may be more readily accepted”, reported Reuters.
