Panel discussion: Disinformation as a threat to European democracy

In Europe, distrust for politicians and the rising curve of misinformation, disinformation and viral conspiracy theories began long before the COVID-19 pandemic.

ISD’s CEO Sasha Havlicek took part in a lunch briefing for the European Committee of Regions (CoR) to discuss the impacts these issues have on European democracy, and how citizens and institutions can build resilience against these threats. The panel included speakers from government and civil society. It formed part of ongoing discussions about the European Democracy Action Plan released in December 2020.
