Climate expert Jennie King panels webinar on extremist tactics targeting young people & the effects of algorithms on public debate 

ISD’s Head of Climate Research and Policy, Jennie King, joins fellow experts in paneling the online webinar Taken to Extremes: Online Radicalism, Polarisation and Youth for an important discussion on the effects of algorithms on public debate, including when it comes to climate topics. Experts will also share examples of digital mechanisms being deployed by extremists targeting youth online, the effects of the news media and steps that can be taken to limit these outcomes.

She will be joined by Paul Barrett, Deputy Director and Senior Research Scholar at NYU’s Stern Center for Business and Human Rights; Alex Newhouse, Deputy Director of the Center on Terrorism, Extremism and Counterterrorism at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey; and Katie Paul, Director at the Tech Transparency Project. The conversation will be moderated by Brian Hughes, Associate Director of PERIL.
