Africa Summit: Supporting city-led efforts to address hate, polarisation and extremism

The Strong Cities Network organised the virtual event Africa Summit: Supporting City-Led Efforts to Address Hate, Polarisation and Extremism. In two-hour sessions over five days, experts and stakeholders convened to discuss preventing violent extremism in Africa. Speakers presented their unique contextual experiences, including representatives from international agencies, local civil society, and national and local governments from Uganda, Mozambique, Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon and Morocco.

Topics included developing and implementing measures for preventing and countering violent extremism (PCVE), national-local cooperation, the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on interventions and the role of young people.
